Subject:     Customs - Waiver of demurrage charges during the lockdown period- Extension: Reg:

Dear Member,

The Council would like to inform you that as you may be aware, as per the Order issued by the Directorate General of Shipping vide No. 7/2020 dated 29th March, 2020, container detention charges on import and export shipments, for the period from 22^nd March, 2020 to 14^th April, 2020 (both days inclusive) were not charged, as a facilitation measure to support the industry against the impact of COVID-19.

In lieu of the extension of the lockdown period, the Directorate General of Shipping has now issued Order No. 11/2020 dated 22nd April, 2020 regarding extension of the waiver of container detention charges till 3^rd May, 2020.

Members may kindly make a note of the above.
